Over the years, Lifesteps has become an expert in the detection and treatment of developmental problems in young children. Identifying developmental problems early is the key to helping children build the skills they will need to succeed in school and in life.

With Child Check Developmental Screenings, Lifesteps is helping the families of the communities it serves by identifying children who need special services to overcome a problem. Child Check is a free service supported by grants and donations from individuals and businesses. Over 4,000 children are screened each year in Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Indiana and Lawrence counties. Lifesteps’ goal is to be able to screen every child in its five county service area at least once before age five.

Helping a child overcome developmental problems and enter kindergarten ready to learn and participate with the rest of the class
is the second part of the challenge that Lifesteps addresses. Developmental Preschool, Speech Therapy, Language Therapy and other services have been created by Lifesteps’ early childhood development experts to help children with development problems achieve their full potential.
