Lifesteps Early Head Start provides these free services to low-income families in Beaver County.
Parent involvement is essential to a child’s growth and development. Through in-home visits, Lifesteps Early Head Start incorporates mentoring activities such as planning goals for the child, parent, and family. Parents have the opportunity to participate in educational and developmental program activities.
Lifesteps Early Head Start provides important early education that assists the child in transitioning into preschool or other services. Educational topics for parents include parenting skills, constructive play, healthy foods, and safety.
Through free home-based visits, professionals work with families to ensure each pregnant mother or child from birth to age 3 has the important components for a healthy beginning, such as:
• Medical/physical examinations
• Up-to-date immunizations
• Dental health care
• Access to healthy meals
Additional free at-home services offered through the Lifesteps Early Head Start program include: vision, hearing, speech, and developmental screenings.
Lifesteps Early Head Start welcomes children with special needs. The program offers screenings to assist in detecting early signs of developmental delays. Early developmental professionals provide information to parents about caring for a child with special needs while linking families to other valuable community services for assistance and support.
The program assists families with referrals to other necessary services that will support pregnant women, and families with children, ensuring the best possible comprehensive plan for the child’s growth and development.
