Penguins’ Alumni Golf Outing Benefits Lifesteps

On Wednesday, March 29 at the game, Lifesteps, Inc., a local nonprofit agency serving 10 Western Pennsylvania counties, received a check for $7,500 from the Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni Association at the March 29 game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Florida Panthers.

The check, representing proceeds from the Penguins Alumni Tee Off for Charity held August 1, was presented to Lifesteps’ President and Chief Executive Officer Karen Sue Owens by Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni Association President Warren Young and alumni association member Mark Kachowski.

Lifesteps offers services include free child developmental screenings for children birth to five years of age, developmental preschool, integrated child care, a medically monitored day-program for older adults, and programs and services for adults with mental retardation. Lifesteps’ Family Caring Fund is restricted to paying expenditures not otherwise reimbursed by federal, state or county programs.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni Association consists of former Pittsburgh Penguins who are committed to preserving the city’s hockey legacy and aiding the region through charity fundraising.
